Dog leashes are a fixture in any dog parent’s home, but have you ever stopped and wondered if the one you have is the best choice out there? When you walk your dog around on a leash, many things can happen, and not all of them are funny stories to recount later. Ian Blaylock from Monroe, LA, decided he could do something better for dog owners.
What is the Streamleash?
The Streamleash is a new concept designed by Ian Blaylock, the owner of an energetic dog, called Duke. The whole point of this leash is to ensure that the owner has a stronger, safer grip on the leash when they go outside with their pet in tow.
The concept of the Streamleash is rather simple, but also very intelligent. It looks like a glove, and this allows your palm to remain free. The leash is attached to your hand, but you don’t have to pull at it all the time.
Another great thing about it is that you can leave enough room for your dog to play around if you like keeping him or her on a longer leash, or, on the contrary, make it tighter, so that your pet behaves and walks side by side with you.
What led to the concept of the Streamleash?
This concept for a new dog leash came to Ian Blaylock after he suffered an injury while walking Duke. Duke saw another dog and took off, making Ian stumble and fall in the process. From that unfortunate event, Duke’s owner got a sprained ankle, but also an idea for a new leash that could prevent such mishaps.
The creator of the new leash says that the Streamleash is capable of putting the dog owner back in control quickly and easily. You can opt for different lengths, as the leash can be adjusted as you see fit.
The leash is activated by a handle that conveniently rests against your hand. A simple squeeze is enough to pull your dog back, and this way, you will not be easy to yank over by an overly energetic pet.
The creator hopes to raise enough money on Kickstarter
As is the case nowadays with any new business entrepreneur, Ian Blaylock thought about launching a Kickstarter campaign. He and his wife hope that they will raise enough money to make the Streamleash a reality. The backers will receive the new leash so they will try it before anyone else.
The creator of the Streamleash plans on giving back to the community, as well, if the promotional campaign ends up with good results. Together with his spouse, Ian intends to invest in shelters for homeless dogs.
A new solution to an old problem
Many dog owners may be interested in this new concept, as it can be a nuisance to try chasing your dog once he or she yanks free from your hand. The Streamleash can be a more convenient option to consider, especially if your dog likes to run free and often tries to pull himself or herself free.
